Broken Hearts Healed

by Lakenya Hill, Ed.S, MA

“How can my shattered heart be mending back together? I am beyond repair.”

This is the thought of the broken and defeated woman. As I listened to hear hearts cry,  I sought the Lord with this burden of brokenness. My petition to the Lord on the behalf of this client was, “Lord, you know her story. You were there at her conception, birth and abuse, and she was never removed. How can I encourage her in this when her heart never receives the chance to grow completely, as the hurt began when she was just a baby?”

As my body turned warm and my soul leaped when I heard the voice of the Lord say, “Do you remember?” Immediately I did. I remember when my heart was broken, so much to the depths of my soul felt hollow and deserted. There was no way my human mind could even find a stitch of glue bandage of tape that would be strong enough to bear the heaviness of my hurt. “I Do Lord, I remember.” a gentle tug at my heart released the truth that was stored up in my heart:

“He heals the brokenhearted  and binds up their wounds” ( Psalms 147:3)

That’s it! When my heart was shattered into pieces the Lord showed up and mended it back together, providing a new perspective and a testimony to share. The Lord showed up in unmeasurable ways, through experienced women, community, and Counseling.

It is evident to us that the ladies who come to Selah feel broken beyond repair. But, thanks be to God, who mends broken hearts. While they may not have the slightest idea what it means to draw near to God and let him heal their hearts, WE get to share through our lives and love in action how the mending and healing from our heavenly father is strong and irreversible.

He heals really GOOD!

Be encouraged! Draw near to the Lord because He is still in the healing business.

Thoughts for application:
This week reflects on a time when the Lord mended your broken heart. I challenge you all to share your story with someone. Your story may help and encourage them!

I am so glad to be on mission with you!
