Residential Care Assistant

The Resident Care Assistant is responsible for providing day-to-day care and support to survivors of sex trafficking residing in the Selah Stabilization home. This role involves ensuring the safety, well-being, and emotional support of residents, while fostering a nurturing and supportive environment conducive to healing and recovery. The ideal candidate will have a compassionate and trauma-informed approach, with experience in working with trauma survivors. The candidate must be a strong Christian, agree with Selah’s Statement of Belief, be able to provide a pastoral reference, and pass a background check and drug test.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional coursework in social work, psychology, or a related field preferred.

Experience:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a caregiving or support role, preferably with trauma survivors or in a residential setting.

Skills:
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, empathetic, and patient demeanor.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience working with survivors of sex trafficking or other trauma survivors.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Bilingual

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a strong Christian and able to provide a pastoral reference.
  • Must pass a background check and a drug test.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a residential stabilization home environment.
  • Physical demands may include lifting, standing, and other moderate physical activities.
